Leadership

Tyler Eason is the Lead Pastor and Church Planter of Gospel Hope Church.

Tyler grew up in Wilson, NC, raised by a hardworking single mom. In God’s kindness, he encountered the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection at an early age and became a follower of Christ. Observing the challenges of those around him sparked a deep desire to share the hope of Jesus with others. Following high school, he pursued theological education and successfully completed undergrad and graduate studies at a Christian college and seminary.

Tyler met his wife Jackie in college. They have now been happily married for 11 years and have four incredible children. Jackie has been an unwavering partner in ministry and a great source of encouragement to Tyler and many others.

After spending the first decade of marriage serving a church in Minnesota, their hearts began to yearn for gospel growth in Eastern NC. After much prayer regarding church planting, God graciously provided Tyler with the opportunity to partner with Redeemer Community Church in Fuquay-Varina to plant Gospel Hope Church in Greenville, NC.

Why Greenville, NC?

Greenville is a charming college town not too far from the beach. A vibrant city with a population of approximately 170,000 residents, Greenville is also home of East Carolina University. ECU boasts a student body of around 30,000 and plays a significant role in shaping the city’s culture and lifestyle.

Greenville is also a city characterized by pressing material and spiritual needs. Alarmingly, over 25% of residents live below the poverty line, with Greenville Heights, situated in the western part of town, being particularly affected. Despite the city’s remarkable ethnic diversity, many churches have faced challenges in reflecting this rich tapestry within their congregations. Divisions along ethnic, social, and economic lines persist within many churches.

Most importantly, Greenville is a place in desperate need of the gospel. Several pastors in the area have expressed the need for more healthy churches. Our primary objective is to establish a church in the Greenville Heights area that will bridge these gaps through the transformative power of the gospel. The combination of these factors presents us with significant opportunities as we strive to plant a thriving, gospel-centered church.
